Laughing Out Loud

April 11th, 2009

vegasLas Vegas is known for its bright lights and 24-hour everything. Top-notch performers make appearances here almost every day of the week.

Visitors and residents both have an endless amount of options–from a dinner show at 4 Queens Hotel to a live concert performance from headliner Toni Braxton at the Flamingo. However, you haven’t had a good time in Vegas until you stop by one of the many comedy houses on or just off the strip.

For family-friendly comedic action, check out Rita Rudner’s long-running comedy act. She has been a Vegas staple for many years now–performing six days a week at Harrah’s Hotel and casino. Or check out the many impressions of Gordie Brown at Planet Hollywood’s V Theater.

If you like a little music with your laughter, then you must check out “Menopause the Musical.” With 24 songs and non-stop wise cracks, these characters are sure to bring a smile to your face. For over eight years, “Laugh out loud with the Scintas” has been billed as a high-energy song and dance number infused with comedic antics. Both shows play a minimum of six nights a week at the Shimmer cabaret inside the Las Vegas Hilton which is just off the strip on Paradise Road.

Last, but certainly not least, if a big-name headliner is the reason for your trip to the desert then by all means checkout Wayne Brady in his new variety show “Wayne Brady: Making it up!” Playing in its debut year at the Venetian Hotel at least five days a week, the show features his famous improv acts as well as song, dance and impersonation numbers. This show is at the top of my list. Friends have been saying that the show is absolutely hilarious. Especially, if you’re a fan of Drew Carey’s “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” which of course I am.

Now, Louie Anderson is your man if you’re looking for that classic stand-up routine. Making fun of his childhood, 11 siblings and his weight will definitely have you laughing out loud.

With so many shows and more being added all the time you may just have to schedule a few extra days off this year!
